Kate O’Brien is the Program Manager at the Appoquinimink River Association. Kate attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa., where she graduated Cum Laude in 2005 with degrees in Environmental Studies and English. During her years at Ursinus, she worked on projects concerned with the water quality of local streams. After graduating from Ursinus College, she attended the University of Delaware to receive her Master’s degree in Environmental and Energy Policy with a specialization in water resource management and policy.
While as a student at the University of Delaware, Kate worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute for Public Administration’s Water Resources Agency. Kate worked on various projects with the Water Resources Agency, including the Delaware River Basin Commission’s State of the Basin Report; and during this time, she began volunteering as an intern for the ARA. Her analytical paper focused on how to better implement riparian-buffer ordinances to better protect natural resources and serve the public. She received her Master’s Degree in May 2007. Now, as the ARA’s program manager, she is grateful and excited to be working with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors on fulfilling the Association’s mission to preserve, protect, and enhance the waters of the Appoquinimink area.
