There are a lot of great things happening in the Appoquinimink Watershed; however, some of our activities have had negative effects on our local streams. Many streams flowing through our communities have fallen victim to erosion, nutrient pollution and loss of habitat. That is why the Appoquinimink River Association worked in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and Town of Middletown to restore one of the streams that have been impacted by these environmental issues. This stream, located next to Silver Lake Park in Middletown, drains directly into Silver Lake and was restored by stabilizing the stream banks, improving native vegetation and monitoring the water quality. By restoring the streams that lead into our local waterbodies we can aid in preventing further degradation down stream as well as helping to attract wildlife and making the area more beautiful.
